"Honestly, one of the most challenging experiences I've had was taking on the role in Notting Hill," Roberts confessed to Vogue. "Portraying a movie star felt so awkward, and I wasn't sure how to approach it."

In the film, Roberts portrays a globally renowned actress who falls in love with Hugh Grant's character, William Thacker, a bookseller. Roberts expressed discomfort not only with the role but also with the character's wardrobe. According to Curtis, the actress "disliked being styled as a movie star."

Even in one of the film's pivotal scenes, where Roberts declares her love for Grant's character, she took matters into her own hands. The actress opted to wear an outfit from her personal wardrobe for authenticity. "I sent my driver back to my apartment that morning," Roberts revealed. She seized the opportunity to fetch a few items of clothing. "They were my own slippers, my cute short blue velvet skirt, a T-shirt, and a cardigan," she added.
